Finland is one of the world’s most northerly countries, with a beautiful landscape of forests and lakes. It’s an excellent vantage point for seeing the Northern Lights; and of course, it’s also the home of Santa Claus! Renting a bus in Finland gives you access to all the natural and cultural treasures this magical country has to offer.
Finland has a small population of 5.5 million, and the languages spoken are Finnish and Swedish. The currency is the Euro. Finland is an independent parliamentary republic; the head of state is the President but all political decisions are made at Parliament House in the capital, Helsinki. Finland’s culture and architecture encompass all historical periods from the Middle Ages through to the present day, and hiring a minivan or coach in Finland gives you the chance to explore them all.

Helsinki is Finland’s capital, and one of the main attractions here is Senate Square, surrounded by four Neoclassical buildings including the iconic Helsinki Cathedral. This white domed church is probably Finland’s best-known building. However, Helsinki’s most popular tourist destination is the UNESCO listed Suomelinna Sea Fortress, one of the world’s biggest sea fortresses. Founded in 1748, it now houses a museum at its center.
Turku is Finland’s oldest city, home to Finland’s largest surviving medieval building, Turku Castle, which is situated on the banks of the Aura River and dates back to 1280. The Old Great Square, a medieval market square, can also be found here.
Many of Finland’s major museums are located in the city of Tampere, including the natural history museum, media museum, and even the spy museum! Stunning views over the city can be enjoyed from the observation deck of the Nassinuela Tower, 407 feet above ground level. Tampere is also a popular location for seeing the Northern Lights.
However, one of the main reasons tourists flock to Finland is the province of Lapland. It’s Christmas all year round at the Santa Claus Village, where you can cross the Arctic Circle and even meet Santa himself!
Finland is known for its lively party scene. Most of the major nightlife happens in Helsinki, where many of the bars and clubs are conveniently located in close proximity to one another. One of the main highlights is the Ice Bar. Tampere’s nightlife is dominated by the student population so tends to be youthful and laid-back, while Espoo offers friendly karaoke bars and sports bars.
