Start Your Swedish Adventure with Rent A Bus
Bustling cities, centuries of history, beautiful scenery and frenetic nightlife; Sweden has something to offer everyone. This Scandinavian country is made up of a mainland and over a thousand coastal islands in the Baltic Sea. It is widely known for its lakes, forestry, and bridges, and hiring a bus in Sweden is a safe and reliable way of exploring them all.
Life in Sweden
The Swedes enjoy a high standard of living, and their currency is the Swedish Krona. Sweden has a population of 9.6 million, ruled by King Carl XVI Gustaf. The official royal residence is Stockholm Palace, built in the 18th Century in the Rococo style. The King’s offices are here; however, he and Queen Silvia actually live at Drottingham Palace, a popular tourist destination on the island of Lovon in Stockholm County.

The capital, Stockholm, is a popular and varied tourist destination. It is built on 14 islands and has over 50 bridges. One of the most visited attractions here is Gamla Stan, the Old Town where Stockholm was founded in 1252. It is one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval towns, with cobbled streets and frescoes dating from the Middle Ages.
Another essential place to visit here is Skansen, the world’s oldest open-air museum, offering an insight into the history of Sweden and stunning views across Stockholm. Stockholm Zoo is also located here and is home to a wide variety of native Scandinavian animals.
The second largest Swedish city is Gothenburg, a port city on the west coast. Popular attractions here include the Avenyn; this is the city’s main street and is renowned for its shops and cafes. You can also enjoy yourself at the Liseberg amusement park, or take in some history at the Alvsborg, a 17th Century sea fortress.
Head south to Malmo, a densely populated city where centuries of history meet 21st Century culture. Scandinavia’s tallest building is located here, a futuristic twisted skyscraper known as the Turning Torso. Built in 2005, it stands 623 feet high. This is in stark contrast to the city’s Sankt Petri Church, a Gothic structure dating back to 1319.
Much of Sweden’s nightlife centers around Stockholm, which has a huge clubbing and dance music scene, due to some of the world’s most famous DJs being residents of the city. Visby, Vasteras, and Gothenburg also offer lively and varied nightlife.
When you rent a minivan or coach in Sweden from Rent A Bus, you won’t have to worry about anybody driving, or trying to find a taxi at the end of the night. We can meet you in a pre-designated place at a time to suit you, and take you back to your accommodation, making sure you get back safely.
